The St. Charles Parish Department of Economic Development recently received honorable mention for Excellence in Economic Development by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for a video produced and directed by Berning Marketing and Productions.

The video, titled “Best of All Worlds,” offered a birds-eye view of the business and financial assets of working in St. Charles Parish with the goal of brining more business and skilled workers to the parish.

The Excellence in Economic Development award is an international award, highlighting the best in the world’s programs and marketing efforts aimed at enacting positive economic change for communities of different sizes. It is awarded by the IEDC, the world’s largest network of economic professionals.

“While having my work awarded is certainly a nice feeling,” said Ed Metz, the film’s director, “I get a bigger sense of pride from working on a project with a positive scope, one that helps not only Louisiana but a parish that can sometimes be overlooked.”

Robert Berning, president of Berning Marketing and Productions, also said he felt honored to be part of such an “important project” and is glad to “do what has to be done for the state he cares so much about, the same state [he] will support until the end.”

“We give 100 percent on all of our productions,” said Berning. “But this one was something special. This one was for our home, so we pulled out all the stops. It’s wonderful to have that recognized, but it’s even more wonderful to see this film and realize work might increase in St. Charles [Parish] because of it.”

This isn’t the first time Berning Marketing and Productions has done work for organizations focused on making a positive impact on Louisiana. At the end of this past year, the full-service marketing firm offered a partial donation on the creation and launching of the Field of Dreams website. The 9th Ward Field of Dreams is an organization aimed at building a $1.85 million community space targeted toward athletics and open to the public, free of charge. To date, the non-profit has earned about $1.5 million.

(NEW ORLEANS, LA.) – Dreams do come true.

Both President Obama and Anderson Cooper have turned their eyes to the non-profit organization 9th Ward Field of Dreams, which has charged itself with building a youth sports complex in an effort to lower violent crimes.

Berning Marketing and Productions is proud to have been a part of the 9th Ward Field of Dreams campaign. As part of a 35th anniversary social outreach program, Berning designed and implemented the 9th Ward Field of Dreams website and social media initiatives.

According to the Anderson Cooper interview, which was featured on Anderson Cooper 360, the foundation has almost raised enough money to complete its goals. President Obama praised the non-profit for doing just this during a speech given in New Orleans on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Video clips of both the show and the event can be seen below.

(METAIRIE, La.) –Remember what it was like to be in 8th grade and wonder about the world of work? Do you remember wondering what you might be when you grew up and what you would need to learn to prepare for a career? Through participation in New Orleans Outreach’s Power Ties program, Arthur Ashe students recently learned what type of preparation is needed for careers in marketing, advertising and communications during a recent job site visit to Berning Marketing on Friday, May 14.

Job site visits are part of the Power Ties program of New Orleans Outreach, in partnership with the Young Leadership Council. The Power Ties program introduces young people to various careers, helps them create a professional resume of their qualifications and gives them the tools needed to seek future employment. Students participate in mock interviews with Young Leadership Council volunteers, learn how to dress professionally and visit various businesses to experience the working world.

Students received valuable information during their job site visits about which classes they need to take in high school, what colleges or technical programs they should consider and the expected salary in their chosen field.

“Besides enhancing the job search skills of students, Berning Marketing believes in participating in programs where relationships are formed between students and the community,” said Eddie Brown, Berning Marketing public relations director. “We hope students will gain a better understanding of what’s involved in our industry, but we also hope to get a better understanding of what we need to do to keep our talent in New Orleans,” Brown added. Claudia Barker, executive director of New Orleans Outreach, agrees.

“The participation of volunteers greatly enhances the program’s value,” said Barker. ”The students become resources – potential interns and employees of the businesses that volunteers represent.”

(METAIRIE, La.) – Robert Berning, president and founder of Berning Marketing LLC, was recently recognized as the silver medal recipient for his lifetime contributions to the New Orleans advertising community. This honor is given to only one member of the advertising community each year.

“Robert Berning embodies all the characteristics of the Silver Medal Awards recipient,” says Eddie Brown, Berning Marketing public relations director.

“Robert provides an excellent example for his staff through his daily management-style with client relations at the forefront of all he does. He’s maintained a lasting reputation in the industry by delivering and executing high-quality work and no matter the task, mandates the same level of performance from everyone within our company. Working with someone with this type of knowledge and experience is invaluable.”

Lauren Alsop, the company’s creative director, was also recognized with the award for creative director of the year. In her role, she is responsible for developing creative campaigns that align with client’s overall goals.
